Fun game, I've played a lot over the last two weeks and here are my thoughts/feedback:
It's always a good idea to carry a Berserk card to the end. Boss fights can turn badly really quickly and a Berserk card could make the difference between you winning or losing.
The Vampire's bite doesn't affect the undead, It's not always obvious which enemy is undead though. I think that a description should be added that says if an enemy is undead or not.
I had a bug where I beat the final boss (Evil Eye) but then the game didn't end. It kept going forever. This was on Firefox (Windows).
Really cool game, simple but not that immediate, there are some things to asjust like the vampire spell which is pretty broken against the boss but i love the variety of effects and objects. I'd love to donate but sadly itch's payment doesnt work rn i dont know why
The demo plays quite well and i had 2 sessions 30-40 minutes long beating the boss in the 2nd session as a vampire.
- The core gameplay is quite solid and i like the simplicity in it.
- I like the gambling element revealing the cards on a table. It's exciting and makes me go on.
- the knight feels a bit under powered. As he is out of weapons, that's a game over.
- with the games simplicity it kinda aims more in to mobile market. I would recomend considering making it in album orientation for mobiles.
- the play sessiosn is to loong. Nor mobile or PC, first sessins (runs) should be much shorter. Else it's a bit overloading on a player.
- the game is asking for some othe game layer, offering progression in this rogue like experiance. Probably oppening new card and artifact items to be in a roll pool. This actualy can provide the global progression.
Hope my feedback helps. Good luck with the development!
Hit me up if you will be in a lokout for another head with this game :) (GD\LD)
A lot of fun! Overall flow of the game is great, really satisfying once you get the hang of it.
The boss is a bit of a bummer, since the buildup towards the final stage is so big and you will lose without a specific setup. Would be nice to know what you're up against beforehand.
The vampire spell is really confusing. Its damage constantly changes but it isn't explained why and how it works.
True but i think it increases every turn when you dont use it and then decreases based on the dmg u deal when u use it. For the boss its pretty broken, i just didnt use during the whole run until the boss and the i dealt about 90 dmg to it in 2 hits, cleared without even revealing other cards
Either the Knight is now underpowered due to the nerf that costs half the armour per spell, or the Vampire is overpowered due to not having to worry about food.
I enjoyed getting the "1 armor for each kill" perk, which was the first one that felt like a really big change especially with an armor based attack.
Then it felt kind of unfair as I got 4x as many enemies as weapons for 3 consecutive floors, depleting my weapon stash and the shops and rewards in between not offering anything that would do or enable damage (like a two mana point potion when i need 5 for a single attack). The spell was of limited use as it is most effective when i got many enemies turned around, but that ofc also depletes my armor (and eventually i have no other options if my weapons depleted despite never leaving a weapon on the table and buying more often enough).
I think "Tooth of a unknown creature" item is bugged. If you are opening an enemy with this item, this enemy does not only attack another enemy. It instantly attack the player as well. So if I use it to try to kill a low-damage enemy with a high-damage one, I will be hit by the high-damage one as well in the same turn. This makes the item pretty useless, as it harms more than it helps.
The game is really fun. The challenging gameplay, animations, and sound effects make flipping cards even more exciting. My biggest mistake was flipping all the cards. I noticed a few errors and minor differences in meaning in the Turkish translation. If you'd like, I'd be happy to help improve the Turkish translation.
Well-made although the Android version could use a redesign that'd let it take up all that blank space on the left and right sides for bigger font. Additionally, it should have a confirm-card accidental-selection-guarding feature the way Slay the Spire does, because sometimes I just wanted to read a card's description but upon lifting up my finger, I'd take the card because I forgot to move my finger off the card before lifting. Could you please add this and larger buttons (especially "SKIP" at the bottom of the shop, the accept/decline tutorial and menu buttons, etc.)?
Okay, I rage-quit and uninstalled it because enemies dealt +1 more damage than their sum was going to be, causing me to die when I had intended to go to 1 HP to maximize a health-restoring tome. I didn't understand what caused them to deal greater damage. I wish the game would preview how much damage you'll receive if you just ignore enemies and keep unveiling cards.
The Weakness rebuff doesn't say exactly how much weaker you get; it should be clear that it causes -1 ATK with everything, or actually reduce your cards' values accordingly. The game really needs quality-of-life features and clearer wording in its descriptions.
can you give me a tip for clearing with knight? i cleared vampire and i'm trying to clear with knight. but i am always suffered by weapon card depelete eventhough i reached last boss... how can i clear with knight...?
Before the release of the full version, there will be a demo version with new mechanics, maps, enemies, bosses, etc. Make a purchase decision after reviewing the demo version
i really like this game, maybe this is hard, but the hard brings, idk what to say. uhh yeah this is so cool! i hope i dont need to pay for full version,
Really cool game! I won first try with the knight ;)
- Would have liked to fight a mid-boss (maybe floors 10 and 20?), I think it would be great to build up and release tension in this way on the way to the end boss!
- Sometimes the game could be more descriptive. Like an enemy can look really cool but they are all just called "Common Enemy". But more importantly for abilities - The knight's Divine Light ability halves your armour but doesn't say so, which confused me at first. Or one of the books "decreaes hunger" at the cost of 1 HP. When I found out that this was a Full Hunger Restore it was always an insta buy for me.
- I think the order in which things happen can lead to confusion. Example: I had a relic that gave me 1 armour for every 5 cards I play. I was at 0 armour and played an armour card. The relic's effect triggered before the card, meaning I got 1 armour from the relic but then only half of the card's armour because now I wasn't at 0 armour anymore. Something similar happened with the Divine Light ability: I was at 12 armour and there were 4 enemies revealed. One of them had 13 HP so I wasn't expecting to kill him. But because I had a "Get 1 armour per kill" effect,I must have received one armour between killing one of the other enemies with that same ability and the 13HP guy died too. tldr: Trigger secondary effects (relics) after primary effects (card, ability) are already resolved.
- I was confused at first why I can click and immediately use the reward card (e.g. Food) when I have 5 hands but I cannot do that with the same card during the level
Overall I think it's a lot of fun and I wish you the best for further development :)
My 12 small tips to beat the game (as of v0.4): (1) Play the vampire, (2) Bite and don't use weapons if possible, (3) Replenish armor frequently, (4) Drink healing potions frequently, (5) Collect as much gold as possible, (6) Buy gear mainly for reducing hunger & increasing/replenishing HP, others are much less important, (7) No need to boost Stress or Mana abilities, (8) The "Rest-Sacrifice" spells combo is your best friend (use them when at low HP after fights), (9) Having a "Vanish" ready is the best way to avoid getting overwhelmed, (10) Avoid using the special ability & try to save it for the boss, (11) Note about the special ability: each time you use it the "effect pool" (total dmg) will be halved, and each time you bite dead an enemy the "effect pool" goes up by 1, (12) Hoard about 8-10 shots of Dmg 10 weapons (available from around Room 27 upwards) and use them all on the final boss.
Thanks for the tips, I can say they're 100% true, led me to victory! I will add that the knife and the Bow of bones and the fire axe are really powerful, overly so
Yeah. And one more thing: Negative effects handicap your hero and make the game much harder due to being over-stressed. Avoid them at all cost, like using "Sacrifice" as soon as hunger hits 0.
I don't count on "chaos" as its effect is unpredictable. As for "mark", I find it more important to shut down the mob with "vanishing" than seeing where they are, as I generally would try to flip over all the cards in the room anyway (biting enemies dead boosts the special vampire skill).
There will be a meta-progression in the full version. This way, you will be able to upgrade yourself until you feel comfortable in the game. The full version of the game will be paid for
Great job. Simple yet engaging, Very replayable and addictive. Game length is appropriate (around 35 minutes to the final boss stage). The warrior and the vampire require really different play styles. Won with the vampire only (by hoarding several 10 Dmg weapons. The warrior feels hopeless against the bosses (not enough attack power, armor practically useless in this particular fight). Eager to try the locked characters in the future release!

I wanted to make a game just like this..sad that someone thought of it before me. Great game tho.

the best game i played so far
The hoof doesn't work on MAX HP cards. Is it intentional?
Animal Blood doesn't seem to work, my health was 8/18 and ate but the food disappeared.

you have created such an amazing game bro!
this game is perfect just perfect

Good luck dealing with the Ghost boos while having the Whip equipped.

i think there should be a way to cure debuffs. some of them can completely end a run
Amazing game, can't wait to see what the full release is like!
Great game, I managed to finish it
gorgeous graphics!

The full version will be available for PC only
if you dont wanna hungry, use this items:
molten pickaxe
tattered wizard hat

magic apple
ring of satiety
if i remember more, i will write it
should i buy the full version when it release?

Cool, but why when I use "chaos", do I keep getting a negative effect? Btw, "mark" is also useful because it can locate your food.
I don't count on "chaos" as its effect is unpredictable. As for "mark", I find it more important to shut down the mob with "vanishing" than seeing where they are, as I generally would try to flip over all the cards in the room anyway (biting enemies dead boosts the special vampire skill).
ok thx
cool game, but i think its so hard, maybe you can nerf it? when the full version release, do i need money to play?

cool game, the vampire combos really well with everything, but the orc kicked my ***
😂

You're right! This is a slightly modified font "Alagard". The font "Silver" is used for Asian languages
Thanks)
